I bought my Kingquad 400 2 years ago and drove over 2500 miles with it so far. Being from Canada my atv was driven both in the summer and in the winter so I have a pretty good idea of its capabilities in many types of terrain. So far I’m really pleased with my choice of atv. I went with this machine since I wanted a semi-auto trans and something simple and reliable.
I looked at other options but none fitted my needs better. I think that in the long term this will be an easy machine to work on if I ever have any problems. The 376cc engine gives out more power than I expected and is really good on gas.
I can cruse comfortably at 45 mph without pushing the engine too far and reach a top speed around 55 mph. I often go for a ride around 130 miles long and I don’t need to stop to fill up the tank.
This ride is mostly done on 2wd but there is a lot of incline and I push the little machine pretty hard at times. If anyone is worried about ride comfort with the rear swing arm I can tell that for me I is not a problem at all. I actually like how it feels grounded and stays flat in corners. I must say that I don’t have that much experience with IRS tough but I don’t feel like it would make this machine any better.
The simplicity of the swing arm let me expect many thousands miles without problems. One thing to consider is that there is not much storage except for under the seat but you won’t be able to fit a lot more than a water bottle and a rain coat in there. I you want to use the atv for trail riding you will probably have to install some extra storage like I did.

My dad has a polaris sportsman 850 touring and i have a kingquad both machines have EPS , IRS on . My dad rode my suki and he said that its a lot more smoother and the suspension is more softer and a the ergonomics were better than his 850 . When i rode the 850 i felt more stability, more power, the eps has more assistence at slow speeds which is good when your in 4×4, but the engine braking system almost throws you of the bars when you let of the throttle.
